Polk County Fishing with a Certified Fishing Guide
Dax Szegda, a certified fishing guide, accompanies fishermen of all skill levels on fishing trips to help them reel in bigger and better fish. Fishing guides offer much more than what you could find in a simple Google search, providing personalized advice at the moment you need it, boats and equipment, and added excitement and fun.
Szegda’s favorite places to fish are the St. Croix River and Lake Wapogasset, where you’ll find muskies, largemouth bass, northern pike, walleye, bluegill, and crappies, among other fish. His biggest catch was a forty-eight inch muskie in Deer Lake. He has guided clients to similarly impressive muskies, of forty-one and forty-seven inches, twenty inch bass, and more.
He enjoys guiding anyone with an interest in fishing and has many fond memories of fishing trips. “This summer I got the opportunity to take a father and son out for muskie and bass fishing,” Szegda said. “The son was a veteran. Both father and son got to see their first muskie, and we caught a bunch of bass. They were excited, thrilled, and thankful, and I was very thankful for that experience, too.”
So how can you make the most of your fishing trip and reel in a winning fish? Szegda says “As far as fishing goes, and in general, you just have to prepare. If you’re not out there, your opportunity is zero. You just have to fish, learn, and try to piece the puzzle together. It depends somewhat on Mother Nature – factors like temperature and wind. It’s exciting when it all comes together.” It’s exciting to get out and fish!
