Robeson County is the largest county in the state of North Carolina by land area, having 949 sq mi (2,458 km2) in total, & 2 sq mi (5 km2), 0.23% of water. As of 2010, the county had a population of 134,168; an increase of 8.8% from the 2000 census.
Robeson County was incorporated in 1787 from Bladen County and was named for Col. Thomas Robeson of the Revolutionary War. The year 2012 marked our 225th birthday!
Lumberton is our county seat and we have twenty-nine townships. The beautiful black water Lumber River ambles through our county and is a wonderfulrecreational resource for our citizens.
