Surry County, North Carolina, originally chartered in 1771. Surry County is located in northwest North Carolina and is a part of the region known as the Piedmont Triad. The county is unique in that its topography includes portions of the Piedmont, Foothills, and the Blue Ridge Mountains and is home to four pristine waterways including the Yadkin River. Surry County is home to the municipalities of Dobson, Elkin, Mount Airy, and Pilot Mountain. Over 73,000 people reside in Surry which has a diverse economy with concentrations in agriculture, automotive, advanced manufacturing, and metal fabrication.
